Robert Zochodne
Robert Zochodne was born and raised in Oshawa. He graduated from Paul Dwyer High School in 1977 and attended the University of Western Ontario. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 1982 and has been a practising lawyer in Oshawa since 1984. He also has a law office in Thunder Bay.
Rob is a former director of Information Oshawa. He was chair of the discipline committee of the College of Denturists from 1996 to 2002 and Deputy Judge of the Small Claims Court in Durham from 1990 until 2004. He is currently a Deputy Judge of the Small Claims Court in the North West region.
He was the President of the Durham Region Law Association from 1998 to 2000.
After serving 9 years on the provincial executive, in November, 2009 Rob was elected Chair of the County & District Law Presidents' Association (CDLPA) in November 2009 and served for an 18 month term ending in May, 2011. CDLPA advocates for practicing lawyers across Ontario and represents the 46 law associations across Ontario along with the Toronto Lawyers' Association.
In June, 2011, Rob was elected to the Board of Directors of the Advocates' Society
Rob was certified as a specialist in civil litigation in 1998 by the Law Society of Upper Canada.
His litigation practice includes personal injury, commercial litigation including construction liens, and estate litigation. He also undertakes complex divorce and family law matters. His practice also includes professional discipline cases and education law. He has appeared before numerous administrative tribunals and the Ontario courts, both at the trial and appellate level.
He has participated in numerous consulations with the Province of Ontario and others with respect to civil litigation matters,including the Discovery Task Force, Contingency Fees regulation and the Province's 5 year operations plan.
In his spare time, Rob has coached football for 10 years, both at the club and high school level.
He enjoys running and keeping fit and playing music in a local band.
